Exercise: Mood Board

Create a digital document or physical document/collage of items that cohere to your taste. There a minimal number of goals:

  • There should be some clear colors that repeat in this collage – you might consider adding swatches of two or three colors to emphasize your choice
  • There may be some clear content connections – it can vary dramatically – hobby, pop-culture, fashion, textures, plants, buildings, etc. Hopefully it’s something that you connect to somehow.
  • Have at least 5 images the more the better. You should arrange them in anyway you want. Think of it becoming a composition of some sort.
  • Consider naming the board and using a font if you wish that suits the theme of the board.

Use which tools you are comfortable with digital or analog. Old fashioned cutout collages are pretty great. But you need to present a digital image of the collage, which can be native to a digital version or a photo of analog collage.

For the blog

Embed an image or images of your mood board and then describe how you made decisions to assemble it. Reference the requirements and review which ones you incorporated and how you made choices.
