Final Reflections

The weekly assignments that followed Colt’s videos were helpful, although they initially caught me off guard. I had assumed that learning web design would involve only real time interaction with a professor, so adjusting to a more independent video-based structure took some getting used to. Colt’s teaching style made complex concepts easier to understand and following along step by step helped me build my confidence.

The problem sets assigned were useful and allowed me to apply what I learned from the tutorials. Sometimes they were challenging but completing them made me feel like I was improving. I also enjoyed the blog prompts. It was interesting to see how other classmates approached the assignments in different ways.

Overtime, I realized that face to face interactions were important for my learning style for this class. When I have questions or get stuck on a concept, being able to ask questions in person makes a big difference. That’s why I chose to come in person most of the time. Having access to real time feedback helped me feel more confident, especially in a subject that can be overwhelming when you’re just starting out.

Overall, while the course pushed me to be more self-reliant and flexible, it also reminded me of how valuable in person support can be. It was a challenging but rewarding experience and I’m leaving with a stronger foundation and web design than I expected.

  1. Thanks for hanging in there and I do hope you come more in-person. It’s my preference as well, but I do understand many students have complex situations that can make it difficult. The way I always encourage students to think about it is to ‘make the time for yourself’ when you can to support your learning in class.
